UMECIT Occupational Health and Safety students promote sustainable practices in Bethania, transforming plant waste into organic fertilizer

UMECIT students from the Occupational Health and Safety program joined the Bethania Community Board to carry out an important community activity focused on the reduction and management of plant waste, with the aim of transforming it into organic fertilizer. This initiative is a clear example of how higher education can have a positive impact on the community, promoting sustainable and occupational health practices.

During the day, our students provided various training sessions aimed at the proper management of solid waste, as well as the preparation of organic fertilizer, teaching participants to convert plant waste into valuable resources for cultivation and soil improvement. In addition, in an effort to integrate the entire community into healthy practices, interactive activities were also carried out to prepare fresh salads, sharing with the general public the importance of a balanced and sustainable diet.

This event not only allowed students to apply their knowledge in a real-life context, but also served as a platform to strengthen ties between the university and the local community, highlighting UMECIT's commitment to promoting safety, occupational health and environmental well-being.

We thank the Bethania Community Board for their significant collaboration and our students for their dedication to this meaningful activity. Together, we continue to build a greener, healthier and more conscious future.
