Delivery of recognition to UMECIT for its contribution to education in the Azuero Region

In an emotional ceremony held in the municipality of Chitré, the Honorable Mayor Juan Carlos Huerta Osorio presented a well-deserved recognition to the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT- for its outstanding contribution to education in the Azuero region . This event was held in commemoration of the institution's 20 years, a milestone that reflects two decades of dedication and commitment to academic training in the province of Herrera.

Mayor Juan Carlos Huerta Osorio began the event with warm words of welcome: «I want to welcome you to the home of all Chitreans. I greet all the administrators, graduates and staff of the municipality at this event. For us it is a pride, Mr. Rector José Alberto Nieto Rojas, to have you here and more in the celebration of the 20 years of UMECIT.»

In his speech, the mayor highlighted the positive impact that UMECIT has had in the region: «The district of Chitré and all citizens, we want to thank you for the opportunity to have the higher education careers that you have promoted in the area. Before, our students had to go to Panama City and many had to give up because they did not have the resources. UMECIT has made those dreams of being able to study come true. So, again, we thank you. "We continue working as a team because we are believers that people improve with education, culture and sports, and you are part of all three."

For his part, the rector of our House of Studies, José Alberto Nieto Rojas, visibly moved, expressed his gratitude for the recognition: «Thank you for this recognition, we value it very much and we receive this as a commitment to continue contributing and growing in the region. , and above all, working to provide opportunities to young people with relevant careers. »

Nieto Rojas stressed the importance of teamwork and collaboration with the community: «We have surrounded ourselves with good people to be able to build this project, among them Maribel, and many other people who helped us a lot and contributed to the growth and progress of the University. here. We are committed to taking a big step to be able to build the headquarters. We have two lots and the commitment is to do a good project with more races. Our limitation is spaces, but if we achieve this, we will be able to bring other careers that are needed in the area. The University is committed to quality.”

Likewise, he highlighted the importance of university accreditation: "Having an accredited University is guaranteeing that we comply with quality standards, and they are processes that we build with everyone."

Rector Nieto also highlighted the close collaboration with the mayor's office: "Thanks to the closeness with the mayor's office, because that is how society is built. That is the commitment to society and to the entire country to continue doing things for young people and that everyone has access to quality education. "I thank God for every step and for those who work at UMECIT."

For the Research, Extension and Postgraduate Coordinator of the Chitré Campus, Master Anielka Ulloa, the recognition of the municipality of the Chitré district to UMECIT is significant because it is the result of joint work. “The University owes itself to the community, because we have programs and projects for the community, and today the fact that the municipality recognizes it is significant for us. As the rector said, it is a commitment to maintain those links and the quality of the work we do at the university.»
