On June 5, UMECIT Santiago successfully delivered baskets to the Nutre Hogar Foundation, in an activity organized together with teachers and students of the Health Planning course of the Bachelor's Degree in Medical Records. The main objective of this initiative was to support the children detained in the foundation, and without a doubt, it was achieved with great satisfaction.
The delivery of baskets not only provided tangible help to the children, but also allowed the students to apply their theoretical knowledge in a real context. This practical exercise demonstrated the importance of comprehensive training in their professional development, preparing students to face challenges in the real world.
This initiative is closely linked to the star of the Neocyberhumanist Sustainability badge, promoting intervention in real social problems, equity of opportunities and care for oneself and others. In addition, it aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 2, which seeks to eradicate hunger by 2030. It addresses growing food insecurity, exacerbated by factors such as the pandemic, conflict, climate change and growing inequalities since 2015.
The participation of students in this activity was crucial not only for their academic training, but also for their development as citizens committed to society. This social project gave them a clearer and more real vision of the challenges faced by children in the district of Santiago de Veraguas, allowing them to better understand their role as future health professionals.
At UMECIT, we are proud to promote initiatives that integrate education with social commitment, demonstrating that our students not only acquire theoretical knowledge, but also develop a deep awareness about the importance of contributing positively to the community.
