Last Saturday, May 25, the Santiago Headquarters was the scene of an excellent discussion titled “Climate Change in Safety and Health at Work.” Teachers, administrators and students from the Occupational Safety and Health and Electrical Engineering Technician programs participated in this activity.
We have the presence of Dr. Carolina Valencia, a renowned specialist from the Specialized University of the Americas, who has dedicated a large part of her career to researching the effects of climate change in the work environment. His intervention offered attendees a deep and detailed vision of how climate change can influence safety and health at work, underlining the importance of this knowledge for the adoption of preventive and corrective measures in different professional fields.
Dr. Valencia highlighted the need to integrate mitigation and adaptation strategies into labor policies, emphasizing that protecting workers from the risks associated with climate change is crucial for the well-being and sustainability of our communities.
This discussion not only enriched the knowledge of those present, but also fostered a constructive dialogue about the importance of education and research in creating safer and more resilient work environments in the face of climate challenges. Shared information is essential so that all professionals involved can take appropriate and proactive measures in their respective fields.
The active participation and interest of the attendees reflected the commitment of our educational community to the search for innovative and effective solutions to the challenges imposed by climate change in the workplace. We thank all the participants and especially Dr. Valencia for her valuable contribution to this important topic.
