Interdisciplinary and Inter-university Collaboration Meeting between UMECIT La Chorrera and the University of Panama

UMECIT La Chorrera campus participated in the Interdisciplinary and Inter-University Collaboration Meeting “Extension and Academic Research for Social, Economic and Financial Impact”, held together with the Faculty of Economics of the University of Panama (Octavio Méndez Pereira Campus).

This academic event brought together students from the Bachelor's Degree in Finance and Banking at UMECIT La Chorrera, along with students from the Investment and Risk, Finance and Banking, and Actuarial Science programs at the University of Panama. The activity was organized by the UMECIT La Chorrera Extension Coordination, headed by Alexis Del Cid, with the support of the Campus and Academic Coordinator, Ernesto Martínez.

During the meeting, the groups presented highly relevant and pertinent research topics, demonstrating academic rigor, critical thinking, and a practical approach geared toward the current challenges of the financial, economic, and social environment. The presentations included risk analysis, financial projections, investment studies, actuarial evaluation, and other key areas for strengthening disciplinary knowledge.

The importance of university extension as a fundamental pillar of continuing education was also highlighted, due to its capacity to connect academia with society and the productive sector. Both institutions shared experiences, methodologies, and working models that enrich research, extension, and professional development processes.

The active participation of the students and the support of the faculty reflected the value of these inter-university initiatives. The participating professors highlighted the effort, commitment, and collaborative spirit demonstrated, emphasizing that spaces like this strengthen interdisciplinarity, promote the exchange of ideas, and contribute to the comprehensive development of future professionals.
