Creativity and talent come together in the "The Art of Weaving Stories" contest

The Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT- held the closing ceremony and awards presentation for the short film competition "The Art of Weaving Stories," an event that brought together students from the Audiovisual Production, Graphic Design and Social Communication programs in a space of learning, creativity and artistic expression.

During the day, attendees enjoyed an enriching program that included the Conversation on Panamanian Cinema, with the participation of the film team. “Express Checkout”, directed by Jeico Alonso Castro Ferrari, along with Fariba Hawkins and Cristian Salinas, professionals with extensive experience in the national audiovisual industry.

Also presented was the conference “Road to success in production: experiences, challenges and lessons learned”, given by producer Álvaro Leonel Rodríguez, who shared his experience in the creation of television and film content.

This event was made possible thanks to the Social Communication Coordination and the University Welfare Coordination, in conjunction with the Film Training Program for University Students and Professionals of the Audiovisual Media (Innovacine).

Professor Erica Trujillo Rivera, Academic Coordinator of the Audiovisual Production, Graphic Design and Social Communication programs, highlighted in her speech that this competition represents "an opportunity for students to learn by doing, putting their creativity and passion for communication into practice."

The jury consisted of Guillermo Jiménez and Alexander Moreno (audiovisual producers from SERTV), along with Amaris Quintana, a graduate of UMECIT.

The winning short films were:
  “I’m still waiting for you” – Héctor Salamin and Kutty Berdiales (Audiovisual Production)
  “The cost of silence” – María González, José Moreno, Diego Pérez and Jorge Miranda (Graphic Design)
  “Where dreams begin, fear ends” – Carlos Delgado, Valeria Neuta, Samuel García and Daniela Puentes (Graphic Design)

The event culminated with the presentation of certificates of recognition to the judges and with a call to continue promoting spaces that strengthen the professional training of the country's future communicators and producers.
