The discussion “Entrepreneurship with Identity: from the
Origins to Internationalization”, an event that brought together students, teachers,
administrative staff, graduates and external public in an enriching space where the
entrepreneurship, culture and creativity were the protagonists.
The special guest was the renowned Panamanian designer Jochebec Arjona, founder
by Jochebec Design, who shared his inspiring entrepreneurial journey, marked
for authenticity, empowerment, and connection to Panama's cultural roots.
The event was held in hybrid mode, with in-person participation in the auditorium of
the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT- and connection
virtual with the different venues nationwide, which allowed a wide reach and strengthened
the institutional link throughout the country. More than 160 people participated, who
They shared ideas, questions and reflections during the discussion.
The activity was organized by the University Extension Directorate, led by the
Master Yelitza González Zamorano, together with Lic. Nadeshka Galástica,
Entrepreneurship Coordinator. Also in attendance was Master of Arts.
Alison García, Director of Business Development at AMPYME, and Mgtr. OBeth Ponte,
legal advisor of IPACCOP, who supported the importance of these spaces of
dialogue and growth.
During his speech, Jochebec Arjona recounted the beginnings of his project, the challenges that
faced as an entrepreneur and how she managed to take her brand to an international stage,
All this without losing sight of the social and cultural purpose that characterizes Jochebec
Design. The designer highlighted the value of indigenous textile art, especially from indigenous cultures.
Emberá and Guna, and how their entrepreneurship generates impact in the communities from
a vision of collaboration and female empowerment.
This event reaffirms UMECIT's commitment to promoting entrepreneurship with
identity, comprehensive training and the promotion of initiatives that positively transform the
