On September 26, our University held a discussion entitled “Let’s Connect Education and Employment,” in which 72 representatives of companies, graduates and academics participated. During the event, key topics were addressed regarding the link between higher education and the labor market, the demand for human resources in companies and the role of the University in the training of competent professionals.
Among the distinguished speakers were Master Bryan Townshend of the National Council of Private Enterprise (CONEP), Master Marlon del Cid, Deputy Director of Employment at MITRADEL, Dr. René Quevedo, consultant and specialist in employment promotion, Master Esteban Veintimilla, Director of Product and Employability Alliances at QS, Dr. Hermes Mauricio Sierra, Academic Vice-Rector of UMECIT, and Master Yelitza González, National Director of Extension at UMECIT.
We also had the special participation of Dr. Miguel Antonio Bernal, advisor to the Presidency, Master Juan José Urbina of the International Labor Organization (ILO), and Dr. Migdalia Bustamante, Dean of Education at the University of Panama.
Following the discussion, roundtable discussions were held with the main actors in society: the employer sector, governance and academia. The objective was to gather valuable information to continuously improve our academic offering, design Continuing Education programs aligned with the needs of the labor market and, as an academic institution with a Neo Cyberhumanist approach, contribute to the social transformation and economic development of the country.
