Framework agreement to strengthen training and occupational safety and health in Panama

The Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT- and the National Association of Occupational Safety and Health Professionals of Panama (ANAPSSOP) signed a framework agreement for inter-institutional cooperation, aimed at promoting academic, scientific and professional initiatives in the field of occupational safety and health.

The formal ceremony was attended by, on behalf of UMECIT, the rector Dr. José Alberto Nieto Rojas and the president of ANAPSSOP, Dr. José Iván Rodríguez Espino, along with his team.

During the event, both authorities addressed those present, highlighting the importance of establishing strategic alliances between academia and professional organizations, in order to strengthen the training of specialists, promote applied research and foster a culture of prevention in work environments.

This agreement will allow the development of training programs, research projects, training activities, academic exchange and other joint initiatives, which will contribute to the professional growth of occupational safety and health specialists, as well as to the strengthening of good practices in the workplace in Panama.

The Rector of our University was accompanied by an interdisciplinary team made up of: the Academic Vice-Rector, Mag. Mauricio Sierra; the Academic Director, Dr. Marcela Arana; the Director of Extension, Mag. Yelitza González; the Legal and Academic Advisor, Dr. Rosa Castañeda; the Coordinator of the Occupational Safety and Health Career, Mag. Ricaurte Betancourt and the Coordinator of Agreements and Internationalization, Mag. Andrea Pinzón.

With this alliance, UMECIT and ANAPSSOP reaffirm their commitment to quality education, professional development and the promotion of safe and healthy work environments for society.
