We commemorate Health Statisticians Day
The past September 13, 2025, a meeting was held at the La Chorrera headquarters commemorative day for Health Statisticians Day, a date that highlights the importance of these professionals in consolidating public policies and improving the Panamanian health system.
The event brought together students from the Bachelor's Degree in Medical Records and Health Statistics from the 2023, 2024, and 2025 groups, who participated in various academic, cultural, and recreational activities. Among them were:
- The election of the event queen.
- The presentation of thematic stands which showed the role of the statistician in health.
- The exhibition of educational banners, with research developed by students.
- Cultural activities such as music, brass bands, and integration activities.
The celebration represented a clear integration of the substantive functions of UMECIT:
- Teaching: with the organization and presentation of technical content by students.
- Research: through projects and banners that addressed relevant issues in public health.
- Extension: with activities that promoted integration, student identity and the projection of the statistical role in the university community.
- Management: through the effective coordination of students, teachers and campus authorities.
In this way, UMECIT reaffirms its commitment to the comprehensive training of its students and with the recognition of the invaluable contribution of health statistics professionals to the well-being of Panamanian society.
