Our Physiotherapy and Radiology students, together with UMECIT administrators, actively participated in the Health Sciences Conference Series: “Advances in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Cancer”, an interactive and multidisciplinary event organized by the Faculty of Health Sciences.
The series brought together specialists in oncology, oncological physiotherapy, radiology, psychology and health research, who shared the latest technologies and advances in the treatment and management of different types of cancer. From a comprehensive approach, the experts addressed cutting-edge topics to raise awareness about the importance of early diagnosis and timely treatment.

Rehabilitation in Cancer Patients: The Role of Physiotherapy – Lic. Ylenia Cogley highlighted how physiotherapy contributes to the recovery and quality of life of cancer patients.
Early Detection and Advances in the Diagnosis of Breast Cancer – Licda. Zuleika De León presented innovations in early diagnosis technologies for breast cancer.
Breast Cancer Treatment – Dr. Francisco Gómez, radiation oncologist at the Panama Oncology Institute, discussed the most effective treatment options.
Social and Emotional Impact of Cancer – Mag. Sergio Cortez addressed the role of psychological support for patients and their families during the oncological process.
Objective: To raise awareness and inform about the importance of early detection and innovative treatments in oncology.
