We celebrate 10 years of recognizing female leadership with the Cecilia Rojas de Nieto Award 2026

The Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT-, invites the academic community and the general public to the Tenth Edition of the Cecilia Rojas de Nieto Award 2026, which will take place next Wednesday, March 18, starting at 9:00 am, in the Claudia Marcela Rueda Ossa Auditorium, Founders Campus.

This important event, framed within the commemoration of International Women's Day, celebrates a decade of recognizing outstanding women for their leadership, empowerment, values and significant contribution to the development of Panamanian society.

The day will feature a keynote address by Master María Inés Castillo de Sanmartín, former Minister of Social Development of Panama and former President of the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM) of the Organization of American States (OAS), recognized for her career in public policies with a focus on gender, inclusion and sustainable human development.

The event will also include a discussion with the winners of the 2026 Award and the presentation of special recognitions to winners from previous editions, in honor of the ten-year history of this important institutional recognition.

In this edition, awards will be given in the following categories:

  • Professional Woman of the Year
  • Female Teacher of the Year
  • Female Student of the Year
  • Female Graduate of the Year
  • Female Entrepreneur of the Year
  • Administrative Woman of the Year

For UMECIT, it will be an honor to have the participation of the community in this celebration that reaffirms its commitment to gender equality, education with values and the recognition of women who transform lives and territories.
