Training on Climate Change and Blue Carbon within the framework of “Learning Environmental Culture in Higher Education”
Within the framework of the training sessions "Learning Environmental Culture in Higher Education", a session dedicated to the topic "Climate Change and Blue Carbon" will be held. This event will take place on July 29 and will feature an outstanding presentation by Graciela González, environmental expert.
The main objective of the training is to increase understanding and awareness of climate change and the importance of blue carbon. Blue carbon refers to carbon captured and stored in coastal and marine ecosystems such as mangroves, salt marshes and seagrass beds. These ecosystems play a crucial role in climate change mitigation due to their ability to absorb large amounts of CO2, much more efficiently than terrestrial forests.
Addressing issues such as climate change and blue carbon is essential in higher education, as it allows students and professionals to understand current environmental dynamics and their implications at a global and local level. The session seeks to equip participants with the knowledge necessary to make informed decisions and promote sustainable practices in their respective areas of influence.
Graciela González, with her vast experience and knowledge, will provide a comprehensive vision of how climate change affects coastal ecosystems and the vital importance of blue carbon in the fight against this phenomenon. Attendees will be able to interact, ask questions and discuss strategies for the conservation and management of these crucial ecosystems.
The event promises to be an enriching experience for all participants, who will not only expand their knowledge on these critical topics, but will also be able to apply what they learn in their academic and professional activities. This initiative reaffirms the commitment of UMECIT and the Ministry of Environment to environmental education and sustainability.
We are waiting for you on July 29 to learn together and contribute to a more sustainable future!
