First aid and occupational safety training: UMECIT students positively impact the Betania community

On August 13, students of the Occupational Health and Safety course at UMECIT participated in a valuable training day in first aid and occupational health and safety, aimed at the staff of the Betania Communal Board. This activity, carried out in collaboration with specialized professionals, such as nurses, biomedical specialists and a paramedic, was part of the academic project of the Project Formulation and Evaluation course in virtual mode.

The training benefited 20 officials from the Communal Board, providing them with essential tools for protection and care in emergency situations. In addition to strengthening the technical capabilities of the participants, this event underlined the importance of integrating students into academic practices that have a direct impact on the community.

The active participation of students in this activity reflects our institution's commitment to practical training and the real application of knowledge acquired in the classroom. Through experiences such as this, future professionals not only enrich their learning, but also contribute significantly to the well-being of society, consolidating their role as agents of change in the field of occupational health and safety.

The interaction between students and professionals during this training demonstrated how theory and practice merge to generate deeper and more meaningful learning. By facing real-life situations and collaborating with experts, students gained a more complete understanding of the challenges and responsibilities they will face in their future careers. This integration is critical to preparing students not only in technical knowledge, but also in communication, leadership and teamwork skills.

Furthermore, the experience allowed students to understand first-hand the importance of occupational health and safety in community settings, reinforcing their commitment to the protection and well-being of people. The exchange of knowledge not only benefited the training participants, but also enriched the learning process of the students, who were able to apply theoretical concepts in a practical context, formulating prevention and response strategies in the event of emergencies.

The collaboration with the Betania Communal Board highlights the crucial role of alliances between academic institutions and community organizations. These alliances not only facilitate access to resources and specialized knowledge, but also foster a culture of prevention and safety in the community. With these types of initiatives, UMECIT reaffirms its commitment to the training of highly qualified professionals who are aware of their social responsibility, contributing to the development and well-being of society in general.
