Within the framework of the outreach activity “Connecting Education and Employment: Talent, Opportunity and Science”, UMECIT, which will take place on May 5th at the La Chorrera headquarters, held a series of strategic meetings with public institutions, representatives of the productive sector and the Panama West Chamber of Commerce.
These actions strengthen inter-institutional collaboration and consolidate key alliances for the development of joint initiatives, reaffirming UMECIT's commitment to its community and its role as an agent of social transformation. Furthermore, this approach allows the university to position itself within the productive ecosystem, generating opportunities for collaborative projects, professional internships, innovation programs, and knowledge transfer initiatives.
Among the participating authorities were representatives from the Ministry of Commerce and Industries (MICI), the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Authority (AMPYME), the Public Ministry, the Mayor's Office of the district of La Chorrera, as well as members of the Chamber of Commerce of Panama West.
The event will focus on the theme “Skills, Equity and Innovation: the new map of the labor market, its impact on university education and its link with the productive sector”, with the aim of generating synergies that allow anticipating labor trends, identifying market needs and promoting concrete actions that strengthen the relationship between higher education and employability.
The activity “Connecting Education and Employment: Talent, Opportunity and Science” is envisioned as a dynamic space for dialogue, reflection and action, where academia, the business sector and government entities will converge, promoting innovative solutions, fostering youth employability and contributing to the development of a more inclusive, competitive and sustainable labor market.
Representing UMECIT were the Director of Extension, Yelitza Gonzales; the Director of Graduates, Emmanuel Mendieta; and the Extension Coordinator of the La Chorrera campus, Alexis Del Cid, who held meetings with key stakeholders in the province of Panama Oeste.
