UMECIT and the University of Panama sign a framework agreement for academic cooperation

With the purpose of joining efforts in order to facilitate and intensify cooperation relations between the two institutions in areas of common interest, this great cooperation agreement between the two renowned universities was signed today, February 13, 2023. .

Within the framework of the event, the Rector of the University of Panama, Dr. Eduardo Flores Castro, pointed out that “It is a historic moment, it is the first agreement made with a private university in Panama. UMECIT, unlike other institutions, is concerned with academia, research and continuous improvement. In its 18 years, UMECIT has grown a lot, and has consolidated, so much so that it is located in the Webometrics ranking as the first private university in Panama, third at the level of universities after the University of Panama and the Technological University of Panama This leads to the signing of this academic cooperation framework agreement”.

For his part, our Rector, Dr. José Alberto Nieto Rojas, confirmed his gratitude to the University of Panama, the feeling of trust, with this signature, the privilege of belonging to this honor roll and promised not to disappoint this alliance and not to leave to work for the benefit of society.

Within the framework of the event, the University of Panama delivered the Panindex certificates, the first index of Panamanian scientific journals, conferring merit on the indexed journals of our House of Study, Oratores, Cathedra, Saluta and Dialogus, for meeting the criteria of quality and being part of the first cohort of the Panamanian Scientific Journals index.

The agreement establishes the framework for the development of exchange and collaboration actions between the two institutions to carry out joint activities in any area that results in the development and strengthening of their inter-institutional cooperation relationship.

Cultural aspects will be disseminated and the creation of a new culture will be promoted; respect for human rights, social progress, the environment and sustainable development will be promoted; critical thinking and entrepreneurial spirit; and human resources endowed with social awareness will be trained for the development of the country in order to strengthen national sovereignty.

To achieve these objectives, work will be done on the exchange of research professors, administrative and technical personnel, and students, through the signing of specific agreements.
Participation in the exchange of academic activities (documents, publications, colloquiums, among others) developed in common will also be promoted.

Likewise, the agreement indicates that an agreement will be generated regarding academic products to be presented as inputs for investigative processes, concluded in the form of a book, book chapters, research articles, academic essays and presentations, for magazines, publishers and character events. international.

Finally, we will collaborate in conducting postgraduate courses, in accordance with the regulations of each institution and subject to the availability of resources.
