XIII UMECIT Health Fair 2025
“Health that Educates, Well-being that Transforms”
UMECIT successfully held the 13th Health Fair 2025 under the slogan "Health that Educates, Well-being that Transforms." This emblematic event took place in various locations across the country, reaffirming the institutional commitment to the well-being and health of Panamanian communities.
Throughout the sessions, students, faculty, administrators, graduates, strategic allies, and the community at large participated, all united by a common purpose: to promote healthy lifestyles and provide support to vulnerable populations.
The UMECIT Health Fair is not only a recreational space, but also a platform for social impact where education, physical culture, solidarity, and community engagement converge. Each year, this initiative seeks to promote healthy lifestyle habits and raise funds to support institutions and individuals facing difficult situations, consolidating its position as one of the most important social responsibility activities in the country.
This year, the 13th Health Fair took place on August 30 in Chitré, on October 4 in Panama, Santiago, and David, and will conclude on October 18 in La Chorrera.
Panama Headquarters
The Panama campus hosted one of the most well-attended events, with more than 3,200 people in attendance. Students, alumni, administrators, faculty, strategic allies, and community members united in an atmosphere of enthusiasm and solidarity.
The fair began with a 3km race, followed by the official opening by Rector Dr. José Alberto Nieto Rojas, who highlighted the importance of this event as an expression of UMECIT's social commitment.
The program included cultural, sports and recreational activities, including:
- Band of the Bilingual Institute of Panama.
- Folklore and artistic presentations.
- Exhibitions by the SPI Canine Unit and the National Police.
- Cultural displays from local schools.
- Zumba, inclusive karate, ballet, orchestras, and senior groups.
- Sports challenges and traditional games in adjacent areas.
The event concluded with words of gratitude and raffles, reaffirming the spirit of unity and commitment that characterizes the fair.
Santiago Headquarters
The fair was held at the Manuela H. de Pérez School, where the following took place:
Vaccination campaign in conjunction with MINSA.
- Zumba classes.
- Folklore presentations.
- Sports activities.
- Food sales and community integration spaces.
Chitre Headquarters
On August 30th, the Chitrean community joined UMECIT for a fair filled with solidarity. This year's event benefited the Herrera Children's Down Syndrome Foundation, with activities such as:
- 5 km walk.
- Fair with entrepreneurs from AMPYME and UMECIT. Medical care and vaccinations thanks to the Ministry of Health.
- Job opportunities in partnership with Banco Nacional.
David Headquarters
The fair in David brought together students, teachers, and community members for an event filled with recreational, cultural, and sports activities, highlighting the commitment to promoting health and collective well-being.
Chiriquí society had a special appointment at the UMECIT Health Fair.
This year, they joined forces for a noble cause: supporting the Amada Children's Home (Mana Panama), providing hope and support.
Commitment to the community
The 13th UMECIT 2025 Health Fair was a space for meeting and learning that reaffirms the university's mission to generate positive change in society. Through solidarity, social responsibility, and community action, UMECIT reaffirms its role as a benchmark for commitment and service in Panama.
