UMECIT Chitré Campus paid tribute to outstanding women with the "Cecilia Rojas de Nieto" Medal.

On the evening of March 27, 2025, the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT- Chitré Campus brought together a select group of the Herrerana community at the event “Tribute to Women: Cecilia Rojas de Nieto Award”, a distinction that recognizes the effort, talent, and dedication of exceptional women within the framework of International Women's Day.

In this edition, the following were awarded:
🏆 Masiel I. Vergara Tello – Female Teacher of the Year
🏆 Guadalupe Elena Hernández Ibarra – Female Graduate of the Year
🏆 Abigail Taveras Rodríguez – Female Student of the Year

The event was attended by the distinguished presence of the Alternate Deputy of Circuit 6-1, Dr. Malena Ríos Delgado, and the Mgter. Yecenia Alfonso de Osorio, Mayor of the Municipality of Pesé, who highlighted the importance of women's participation in politics and in building a more equitable society.

The ceremony was enriched by the intervention of the Dr. Olga Nelys Tapia, a renowned jurist, who gave an inspiring presentation on the role of women in the political, social, and economic spheres from a legal perspective.

To close the evening, UMECIT Chitré reaffirmed its commitment to gender equality, highlighting that this is not only a fundamental human right, but also a key pillar for building a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world. The honorees were encouraged to continue promoting ideals of Justice, honesty, transparency and the fight against inequality, promoting positive changes in every area where they are developed.
