UMECIT participates in the discussion "Dreams that Open Doors" together with the JERCUM Panama Foundation

The past July 4, 2025, the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology (UMECIT) had the honor of participating in the conversation “Dreams that open doors”, led by the Mr. Jermaie Cumberbatch and the JERCUM Panama FoundationThis initiative represents a valuable space for social reflection that seeks to understand and disseminate strategies to help homeless people achieve their goals, projects, and dreams.

From UMECIT, we proudly celebrate the active participation of our student Chantal Tanisha Baxter Hackett, who is part of this inspiring project. We also highlight the presence of the Master Miriam Aparicio, Academic Coordinator of the La Chorrera campus, and of the Professor Carmen Bethancourt, who accompanied this space as institutional and academic representatives.

This conversation promotes the active involvement of our Psychology and Social Work students, becoming a significant training opportunity that articulates academic work with the social realities of our communities.

Aligned with the UMECIT Curricular Educational Model and the Psychology degree graduate profile, this type of experiences strengthens essential skills such as psychosocial intervention, he ethical leadership, the critical awareness and the capacity to respond to real problems, from an inclusive and transformative perspective.

We recognize that projects such as “Doors that Open Dreams” They not only provide opportunities to those who need them most, but also reaffirm the social vocation of our future psychologists and social workers, who are committed to transforming their environment.
