UMECIT leads Social Intervention Program in the Community of San Antonio

In recent days, the first meetings of the Social Intervention Program in the Community of San Antonio were held, an institutional research project promoted by the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology (UMECIT), Santiago campus, in collaboration with the Mayor's Office of Santiago. This program aims to improve family and community coexistence, providing academic and scientific solutions to the social challenges faced by the community of San Antonio.

The project, coordinated by professors Yazmín Díaz and Betsy Miranda, reinforces UMECIT's commitment to applied research by directly connecting the university with the local environment. Through this initiative, the goal is to generate strategies that strengthen community ties, using scientific knowledge to address social problems at their roots. The Vice Mayor of Santiago, Lic. Bernardina Pardo Almanza, and the Alternate Representative of the Communal Board, Lic. Manuel Núñez, also actively support this social intervention, together with professor Roxana Tenorio and students of the Bachelor's Degree in Social Work at UMECIT.

During the first meetings, key actions and strategies were discussed for the official launch of the program, which will take place next Saturday, October 19. In addition to planning, a census was conducted in the buildings of the housing project to invite families to take part in the program, with the aim of encouraging active community participation, essential for the success of the project. This intervention seeks not only to improve coexistence, but also to promote an environment of respect and collaboration that is sustainable over time.

The launch event will be attended by several key institutions in the region, such as the RT Physical and Mental Health Clinic, the Ministry of Social Development (MIDES), the National Secretariat for Children, Adolescents and Family (SENIAF), the Women's Institute, and the Children's Police. These alliances strengthen the impact of the program by integrating academia with institutional support to comprehensively address the needs of the community.

This program is part of UMECIT's institutional research projects, aimed at generating useful knowledge that responds to community needs and promotes social development. Through solutions based on scientific evidence, UMECIT contributes to the academic, social and cultural growth of the region. With this initiative, UMECIT's headquarters in Santiago reaffirms its commitment to university outreach and positive impact on local communities.

UMECIT continues to strengthen its ties with local stakeholders, promoting a more harmonious coexistence and a better quality of life in the Community of San Antonio.
