UMECIT hosted the 5th Ordinary Meeting of the National Commission for the Comprehensive Approach to Suicidal Risk Behavior

On Wednesday, November 19, the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT- hosted the 5th Ordinary Meeting of the National Commission for the Comprehensive Approach to Suicidal Risk Behavior, an inter-institutional space dedicated to promoting mental health and strengthening suicide prevention strategies in Panama.

As an active member of the Council of Rectors of Panama (CRP) —an entity that is part of this national commission— UMECIT assumed the role of host, reaffirming its commitment to the psychological and social well-being of the population.

The meeting brought together representatives from government institutions, academic institutions and specialized technical teams, with the aim of evaluating the actions carried out in 2025 and defining the strategic planning for the year 2026.

During the day, progress made in prevention, awareness and inter-institutional coordination was analyzed, as well as the challenges and priorities that will allow the expansion of the impact of initiatives aimed at the comprehensive care of suicidal risk behavior in the country.

UMECIT reiterated its commitment to training, research, social support and collaborative work, essential pillars to strengthen national actions aimed at promoting the well-being and mental health of the Panamanian population.
