At the Santiago Campus, the results of the research project entitled “Ergonomic risk assessment in office environments for the administrative staff of ANCEC, in Santiago, Veraguas province”, led by Mgtr. Lessly Márquez, teacher and researcher of the Occupational Safety and Health career.
The activity included the participation of students Cristóbal Allen and Edgar Santos, who were part of the research support team, as well as the attendance of representatives from the National Association Against Cancer (ANCEC), teachers and students.
The study, developed in collaboration with ANCEC Santiago, aimed to evaluate the ergonomic conditions of the workspaces of administrative staff, in order to identify risks, prevent injuries and promote healthier and more efficient work environments.
During the day, students of the Occupational Safety and Health program strengthened their technical and applied knowledge, directly linked to their professional field, demonstrating the transfer of research results to teaching and meaningful learning.
The social and human value of the project was also highlighted, as it contributes to the well-being of the staff of an institution that provides hope and support to Panamanian families affected by cancer.
With this initiative, UMECIT reaffirms its commitment to applied research, knowledge generation and community engagement, promoting projects that foster continuous improvement, social impact and the training of professionals with a sense of ethics and social responsibility.
