UMECIT opens the 2026 Research Seedbed Call – 1st Round

The Research and Innovation Department invites all undergraduate students to participate in the Call for Research Seedbeds 2026 – 1st Round, an initiative aimed at strengthening the institutional scientific culture.

What are the Research Seedbeds at UMECIT?

The Hotbeds of research They are made up of undergraduate students interested in developing research skills, abilities and competencies, as well as in sharing the products derived from their academic activity through teamwork strategies and disciplinary association.

This space promotes research project initiatives that contribute to fostering scientific culture and linking students with the needs of the context, from their area of professional training.

Each research group is guided by an experienced researcher, who supports and strengthens the research processes of its members, as well as other activities related to science, innovation, and academic development.

Students and teachers who are part of the research groups receive benefits as established in the Institutional Research Incentive Program, subject to prior approval and management by the Directorate of Research, Innovation and Postgraduate Studies.

Objectives of the Research Seedbeds

  • Training in research, innovation, technological development and entrepreneurship.
  • Promote the creation of student scientific networks and communities with a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach.
  • To foster students' critical, creative, and argumentative skills.
  • To train "seed students" in research methods and techniques to address problems associated with their professional area.
  • Promote the generation of tangible products and activities derived from the work of the seedbed.

📌 Joining requirements

  • Be an active undergraduate student in any career, campus or modality of UMECIT (maximum up to the 8th semester).
  • Complete the application form.
  • Attending a preliminary interview is a requirement for integration approval.
  • Teachers interested in leading or joining a research group should also apply through the link.
  • Commit to developing actions aimed at achieving the goals of the seedbed.

Students who are part of the seedbeds will receive academic incentives and recognitions, according to their participation and scientific output.
