In commemoration of Suicide Prevention Month, UMECIT held the psychoeducational workshop “Breaking the Silence: Understanding and Preventing Suicide”, an initiative aimed at raising awareness among psychology students and the university community about this public health issue.
The activity provided key tools for identifying warning signs, risk factors, and protective factors associated with suicidal behavior. It also debunked myths and provided information on available psychological support resources, strengthening the role of psychology students as agents of change and prevention in society.
Participants expressed great satisfaction at receiving clear, practical, and useful information, highlighting the importance of psychoeducation and prevention in academic and community settings.
This event met the proposed objectives by articulating the substantive functions of the university:
With this space, our University reaffirms its commitment to comprehensive education and university social responsibility, contributing to the construction of more conscious and resilient communities.
