Fingerprint and Palmprinting Workshop strengthens the practical training of Forensic Science and Criminology students – UMECIT

Within the framework of the development of technical and practical skills in the forensic field, the Professor Abel Guevara, professor of the Criminology degree at the La Chorrera campus, gave the lecture Fingerprint and Palmprint Taking Workshop (Dactyloscopy) to the students of the Bachelor's Degree in Criminalistics and Forensic Sciences of period C.

The objective of this training day was Train students in the correct procedures for taking and recording fingerprints and palm prints, reinforcing their theoretical and practical knowledge in one of the precursor disciplines of modern criminology.

During the session, participants carried out activities such as theoretical explanation on the importance of fingerprinting, the Demonstration and practice of the fingerprinting procedure, and the documentary record using the corresponding technical formats.

Among the results achieved are:

  • Understanding fingerprinting as a fundamental discipline in the process of human identification and evidentiary validation.

  • The correct application of the procedure for taking fingerprints and palm prints.

  • Raising awareness of the importance of this technique in criminal investigations and the administration of justice.

This workshop contributed comprehensively to the substantive university functions, strengthening teaching through professional practice, research through the analysis of forensic protocols, outreach through the dissemination of good practices, and management by promoting quality standards in training.
