Workshop on Ink Separation using Paper Chromatography with students of Criminalistics and Forensic Sciences
In the chemistry laboratory of UMECIT, La Chorrera headquarters, the workshop on ink separation by paper chromatography was carried out, aimed at students of the Bachelor's Degree in Criminalistics and Forensic Sciences.
The activity was led by Professor Milisa M. Madrid Cortés and allowed students to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting, strengthening their academic training. During the workshop, paper chromatography techniques were used to separate and analyze different types of inks, observing their behavior in the presence of various solvents.
This experience fostered the development of critical thinking and scientific analysis skills by encouraging the comparison of results and the identification of patterns in the observed processes. It also introduced students to forensic practices, particularly in investigations related to document forgery and fraud.
The workshop also demonstrated effective planning and organization, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment. This strengthened essential technical skills and professional competencies for working in forensic laboratories, reinforcing the integration of theory and practice.
