As part of its social outreach activities, the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology (UMECIT) developed a seminar on the use of artificial intelligence aimed at 6th grade students of the United Nations Bilingual School, in La Chorrera, Panama West province.
The event introduced children to the concept of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in a practical and understandable way, fostering technological curiosity and promoting meaningful learning. Through interactive exercises, students actively explored how AI is part of their daily lives and how it can be used ethically and responsibly.
The main objectives of the seminar included:
Introduce students to the basic concepts of Artificial Intelligence.
Show practical applications of AI in daily life.
To foster scientific curiosity and motivate children to explore technology.
Strengthening the relationship between UMECIT and the educational community through social engagement.
The impact of this activity was highly positive. Students developed digital skills, reflected on technological ethics, and strengthened their critical thinking, in addition to sparking a genuine interest in the world of science and innovation.
From an institutional perspective, this type of initiative consolidates UMECIT's social work, promoting the exchange of knowledge and instilling in new generations the desire to learn, create and transform with purpose.
