Psychology in Action: UMECIT promotes social engagement through academia

As part of their commitment to comprehensive education and social outreach, Psychology students at the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology (UMECIT) participated in a significant university outreach event in the community of San Francisco, Las Garzas.

This activity, developed within the framework of the course taught by Master Horley Barrett, represented a valuable opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in a real-life context, providing significant contributions to different age groups in the community.

During the day, the students presented a final product structured according to the participants' developmental stages, addressing topics of high social impact:

  • 👧 Childhood: Prevention of child malnutrition

  • 👩‍🎓 Adolescence: Early Pregnancy Awareness

  • 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Adulthood: Reflection and guidance on incest

The intervention included educational talks, group dynamics, and spaces for dialogue that encouraged active participation among attendees, promoting prevention and developing critical awareness among each group.

UMECIT congratulates the students for their dedication, sensitivity, and professionalism, as well as Master Horley Barrett for his support and leadership in this important educational process. Actions like this reflect the university's commitment to a human-centered education that serves society.
