"Golden Age" Social Outreach Project benefiting senior citizens in La Chorrera

UMECIT La Chorrera branch presented the Social Outreach Project “Golden Age”, aimed at the senior citizens of the Association of Retirees and Pensioners of Arraiján, with the purpose of promoting their integral well-being and strengthening their active participation in the community.

This initiative was developed thanks to the invitation of the president of the Association and the Provincial Federation, Mr. Pacífico Portugal, who stood out for his commitment to the development and quality of life of older adults.

During the event, the project was presented with the aim of motivating and inviting older adults to join this program, which includes training, educational activities and spaces for participation led by professionals, teachers and institutions linked to UMECIT.

The meeting was attended by the Honorable Alternate Deputy Margaret Pimentel, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Health (MINSA) and Mrs. Elena González, from the Gabriela Mistral Private School in Vista Alegre, consolidating important inter-institutional support.

Through dynamics, discussions and interactive spaces, a high level of interest was generated among the participants, also facilitating the registration process in an accessible and inclusive manner.

A total of 42 people participated, 34 of whom were senior citizens, demonstrating the initiative's positive impact. Participants expressed their enthusiasm for being part of the project, recognizing it as an opportunity to stay active, strengthen their skills, and improve their overall well-being.

The presentation was given by Lic. Víctor Tejada, representing the Psychological Clinic, along with the Extension Coordinator, Mgtr. Alexis Del Cid, who leads the project at the center. They facilitated a participatory space that fostered open dialogue, allowing them to understand the needs, interests, and expectations of the attendees.

With this activity, UMECIT reaffirms its commitment to social responsibility, promoting spaces that recognize and value the contribution of older adults, fostering a more inclusive and conscious society.
