Promoting experiential learning with academic tours for the Bachelor's degrees in English and Physical Education

As part of its commitment to transformative, real-life education, the Faculty of Humanities at the Metropolitan University of Education, Science, and Technology (UMECIT) conducted two academic tours that connect theoretical content with meaningful scenarios outside the classroom. These activities were aimed at students in the Bachelor's programs in English and Physical Education and Personal Training.

As part of the second quarter of the year, these outings respond to the institutional strategy of promoting active learning, critical thinking, interdisciplinarity, and the comprehensive development of students.

In the English program, American Literature II was the centerpiece of the tour "Nature and Narrative: Exploring Romanticism, Realism, and Naturalism in American Literature." The experience allowed students to reflect on the representation of nature and society in these literary movements through a direct approach to the concepts covered in class.

Meanwhile, students from the Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and Personal Training, in the English I class, participated in the tour "Mobility, Language, and Nature: Physical and Communicative Exploration at Summit Municipal Park." This activity integrated the functional use of the English language with body movement in a natural setting, promoting linguistic expression and physical development through active activities, orientation exercises, and games in English.

Both experiences, designed in line with current curricula, strengthened not only students' academic competencies but also their social, ecological, and teamwork skills, reaffirming UMECIT's commitment to a holistic, innovative, and grounded education.
