Last Thursday, March 20, the UMECIT headquarters Santiago hosted the panel "Women in Action: Empowerment and Historical Legacy," a space designed to reflect on female empowerment and the impact of women in history. During the event, key topics such as the historical legacy of women and the diverse perspectives that strengthen their position in society were addressed.
The event began with a special guest appearance by Cristina Martínez López, who joined virtually from Colombia to share her experience as a female entrepreneur. Her presentation inspired the university community and the audience with examples of innovation, perseverance, and leadership.

As part of the event, the Cecilia Rojas de Nieto Medal was presented, recognizing women who, through their empowerment and historical legacy, have transformed their communities, workplaces, and families. Inspired by the life of Mrs. Cecilia Rojas de Nieto, a symbol of commitment and strength, this award honors those who, with integrity, wisdom, and passion, have become drivers of change and progress.

Female Teacher of the Year: Professor Alyson Pinto
Graduate of the Year: Lic. Maria de Jesus Corrales de Chavez (Graduate of the Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety)
Female Student of the Year: Yudelkis Itzel Martínez (Bachelor's Degree in Criminology and Forensic Sciences)
The event was attended by Mr. Obeth Ramea and some of the staff of the Juan XXIII Cooperative, strengthening inter-institutional ties. It also brought together faculty, graduates, students, and the general public, creating a space for dialogue and reflection on the transformative role of women in our society.
