Umecit – University in Panama

A mini health promotion fair was held at the MegaMall building.

On Saturday, December 13, at the MegaMall Building, the Mini Health Promotion Fair was held, an educational day focused on awareness and prevention, within the framework of the commemoration of World AIDS Day, which is celebrated every December 1.

During the activity, fundamental topics such as HIV/AIDS, healthy lifestyles and risk factors were addressed, with the purpose of raising awareness in the university community about the importance of prevention, access to timely testing and treatment, as well as reducing stigma and discrimination towards people living with HIV.

This commemorative date also seeks to honor the memory of those who have lost their lives due to the virus and to reinforce the call to governments and societies to move towards a more equitable, inclusive and effective health response.

Objectives of World AIDS Day

  • Raising awareness about the importance of HIV prevention and treatment.

  • Reduce stigma and discrimination towards people living with HIV.

  • Promote equality in access to health services.

Exhibitors and guests
The Mini Fair featured the participation of prominent professionals and strategic partners:

  • Prof. Temístocles Batista B., Health Educator and UMECIT teacher.

  • Marya Herrera, graduate of the Bachelor's Degree in Health Education from UMECIT and coordinator of the Pacora Health Center, Panama East Region.

  • Ms. Wilneyra Miranda, representative of the company Territorio A&A, SA

  • Ambassadors of Good Eating – Cuisine and Style Panama, who offered natural juices to the student community, promoting healthy lifestyle habits.

  • Mr. Ricardo Beteta, president of the New Panama Men and Women Association.

With these types of initiatives, UMECIT reaffirms its commitment to promoting health, preventive education and the overall well-being of its university community, strengthening social awareness and access to key information for a healthier life.
