Career Description
The Master's Degree in Tourism Management seeks to train competent professionals from research and intervention in the field of management tourism, with a view to addressing projects that contribute to the exponential development of the sector, in the dynamics of the global market, through humanistic and socio-formative principles, which permeate the integral formation of the human being, to provide consistent responses to the demands of the social fabric through criteria, achieving competent performance, continuous improvement and ethical commitment of the future graduate.
- Evaluate tourism business opportunities, taking into account the country's economy.
- Develop skills for planning and administration of tourist services.
- Selection and administration of human resources from the needs of the tourism market.
- Applies instruments, tools and techniques for decision making, related to the management of SMEs.
- Management of innovative tools for the implementation of SMEs.
- National and international market analysis in the tourism sector.
The Master's Degree in Tourism Management is aimed at administration and related professionals who converge in the multidisciplinary management of a tourism project, whether from public or private organizations. By virtue of this, the entry requirements for the Specialization and the Master's Degree in Management Tourism, the following documents that must be scanned and sent to the promoter to be hosted on the respective platform:
- Bachelor's degree or its equivalent (if you are a foreigner, the document must be apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of your respective country.)
- Credits or grades of the bachelor’s degree or its equivalent (in case of being a foreigner, the documents must be apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the respective country).
- Identity document, identity card or passport in the case of foreigners and reside in Panama during their studies.
- Two passport size photos.
- Application letter
- Fill out the application form in electronic format.
Note: Students enrolled in virtual mode whose nationality is different from Panamanian must present a copy of their personal identity document from their country of origin (ID).

- Deepen in the disciplinary knowledge that is of interest to them.
- Respect and comply with the regulations established by the statutes that regulate the relationship between the Metropolitan University of Education Science and Technology and the students of the Institution.
- Keeping your payments up to date.
- Attend the 80% of the meetings In case of prolonged absence, duly present the argument In the case of studies under the virtual modality, attendance is regulated by constant interaction in all activities planned on the platform, including synchronous and asynchronous meetings, as well as the development of the student's autonomous work.
- To attend and pass the academic contents of the first two (2) quarters, containing 25 credits.
- Maintain a cumulative academic index of not less than two (2.00) on a scale of three (3.00).
- Not have subjects lower than 81 (B) Present an exam or certificate of a second language recognized by UNESCO, updated (five years), no less than 40 hours.
- Submit an exam or certificate in the use of computer tools, not less than 40 hours.
- Prepare, support and approve the degree work according to the D-16 manual of the University.
- Good standing of all treasury fees, (Tuition, monthly fees, degree fees, among others).
- Library clearance.
- To have satisfactorily passed all the subjects of the study plan.
- Maintain a cumulative and individual academic index per subject of 2.0.
- Not have subjects lower than 81 (B) Present an exam or certificate of a second language recognized by UNESCO, updated (five years), no less than 40 hours.
- Submit an exam or certificate in the use of computer tools, not less than 40 hours.
- Have carried out, supported and approved their professional practice work (degree option).
- Identifies business initiatives through specific entrepreneurship techniques.
- It recognizes the governmental and private instances before which the management is carried out to start operations legally for an SME.
- Discusses the techniques to plan, manage, organize and lead an SME in a creative and flexible way.
- Understands the necessary foundations for the presentation of a marketing program for SMEs taking into account the new media, and the necessary elements to attract a greater number of consumers.
- Reason about the different financial administration techniques applicable to SMEs, which allow the presentation of proposals for financing, investment, growth strategies and rational use of financial resources.
- It bases the design of strategies to cover the specific training needs of personnel working in an SME.
- Reflect on the applicability and relevance of WEB businesses in the marketing of an SME.
- He masters the conceptual framework that argues for new technologies, new software and telematic services to obtain a greater impact from small and medium-sized companies.
- Practice business initiatives through specific entrepreneurship techniques, through proposals for the implementation of an SME.
- Manages before governmental and private instances the start and development of operations legally for an SME.
- Applies the techniques to plan, manage, organize and direct an SME in a creative and flexible way.
- Develop a marketing program for SMEs taking into account the new media, while containing all the necessary elements to attract more consumers.
- Conduct research that allows you to obtain accurate information on SMEs, and its application in different areas of business activity.

- It argues the sociocultural and economic megatrends, which promote the development of small and medium-sized companies in the tourism sector.
- Interprets the fundamental variables of the tourism sector in Panama and its relationship with companies in the area, in order to identify growth opportunities either internationally, nationally or locally.
- It recognizes the tourist resources of the region, so that they can tend to be part of the service offers of the companies that use these resources as part of their business.
- Describe international markets and specifically the economic environment, looking for the possibility of expanding your business or the offer of your service.
- Identifies in the area of human resources, the processes related to the recruitment and subsequent selection of personnel for companies in the tourism sector.
- Determines the components of the total quality system of tourist services, so that it contributes to improving customer satisfaction, as well as the sustainable development of the organization.
- Find out about the certifications and/or accreditations of the tourism sector, which can be adopted for businesses in general and for business areas in particular.
- It identifies the legal and regulatory strategies that a country can provide to provide investment facilities in the tourism sector in particular.

- It elaborates strategic instruments to detect growth opportunities in the tourism sector, whether at an international, national or local level, which may be viable for companies of different activities within said sector.
- It intervenes in the diagnosis of existing tourist resources and their availability to be part of the offers of companies related to tourism activity.
- Prepare expansion plans according to each type of activity so that they can venture into international markets dedicated to tourism activity.
- Guides the recruitment needs and subsequent selection of human resources, suitable for the tourism sector.
- Manages total quality systems for tourist services in such a way that they contribute to improving customer satisfaction, as well as the sustainable development of the organization.
