Career Description
The most valuable part of the organizations is constituted not only by the infrastructure that it possesses, but by the human personnel that integrate it, which collaborates in the execution of the activities that allow it to achieve its desired objectives. The impact of economic growth in which the country is included, requires professionals who contribute to the best use of the resources it has, in the case of the career that is presented as a PhD in ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT, its graduates will cover the development needs in matters of administration, direction, planning, execution, management and leadership to guarantee the proper functioning of public and/or private institutions).
The objective of the program is to train researchers and professionals at the PhD level with the ability to generate knowledge, innovation models, management projects and business development; as well as carry out epistemologically based research in the areas of management and administration, global business strategy, human and organizational development, to contribute to the transformation and innovation of the organizations where he works, with a high sense of leadership focused on values.
The PhD in Organizational Development, constitutes an offer for the training of professionals in areas related to administration and development, seeking to open opportunities for the formation of a group of researchers and professionals at the doctoral level, with the ability to generate knowledge, innovation models, projects and business development; as well as carry out epistemologically based research in the areas of public administration, global business strategy and human and organizational development, to contribute to the transformation and innovation of the organizations where he works.
The graduate of the Doctorate in Organizational Development has a wide field of work, more in the private sector, which allows them to diversify according to their interests, namely:

Carry out advice and consultancies from any perspective in the field of organizational development based on making the right decisions based on the knowledge that is generated from research.
- c) Teacher
The professional graduated from the doctorate in Organizational Development, can teach classes in the managerial and administrative area, in general.
- d) Investigator
The graduate can choose to be a Researcher in areas of administration and development, with cutting-edge issues within the framework of the new paradigms of management and administration of national and international organizations.
All applicants must submit the following documentation duly scanned from the original and sent to the promoter to be uploaded to the respective platform:
- Fill out the admission form in electronic format with the promoter.
- Submit a research protocol.
- Submit resume with supports.
- Conduct an admission interview with the coordination of the doctorate.
- Master's degree obtained.
- Master's credits or notes or their equivalent obtained with a minimum index of 2.0.
If you are a foreigner, the above mentioned documents must be apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of your respective country. In the event that the country does not have a consulate, you will have to go through the official authorities to validate it).
- Certification of basic knowledge of the Spanish language for foreign students whose mother tongue is different.
- Authorized translation into Spanish of titles and credits (if necessary)
- A current passport-size photo
Note: Students enrolled in virtual modality whose nationality is different from Panamanian, must present a copy of their personal identity document from the country of origin (ID).
The permanence in the University will depend solely and exclusively on the student, on his motivation, ability and vision to obtain the chosen academic degree. The duration of stay at the University will be six (6) quarters as a minimum. The student must maintain a minimum Academic Index of 2.0 and/or a minimum grade of 85 (B) to stay in the Doctorate.
Given the characteristics of the University the student will be able to perform in terms of:
- Study in teams and individually.
- Develop research skills based on discovery learning.
- Deepen in the disciplinary knowledge that is of interest to them.
- Respect the Disciplinary Regulations of the University.
- Keeping your payments up to date.
- Participate in two congresses as a speaker or participant in the area of knowledge of the doctorate, socializing advances or results of their doctoral thesis
- Submit an exam or certificate of a second language recognized by UNESCO, updated (five years).
- Attend 80% of the meetings scheduled for each subject.
- In case of prolonged absence, the student must present a justified argumentation.
- All students in doctoral programs must have basic knowledge of computer science.
- Check knowledge of a language other than yours that allows you to read bibliography of the specialty. Said language must be one of those officially recognized by UNESCO; (Certification or knowledge exam) preferably English language.
- Participate in curricular, extracurricular and professional development activities organized by the doctoral program.
- Develop your doctoral research in correspondence with a problem in the area of your training and the development of the search for solutions.
- Participate in two congresses as a speaker or participant in the area of knowledge of the doctorate
- Present, defend and approve the doctoral thesis draft
- Present doctoral candidacy exam.
To obtain the PhD in Organizational Development, the following is required:
- Take and pass the academic content of the respective semesters.
- Take and pass all the subjects of the study plan with a minimum grade of 85 points equivalent to a B.
- Maintain a cumulative academic index of not less than two (2.00) on a scale of three (3.00).
- Delivery, support and approval of the doctoral thesis.
- Publication of two scientific articles in indexed scientific journals.
- Presentation of the research work in at least one international event based in Panama or in another country.
- Take a proficiency test in English or another international language
- Be in good standing with the institution (financial, academic, and library).
Knowledge (Knowing)
- Manages information on trends and the impact of innovation and technological development in national and international markets.
- Know the business models for the creation of organizations focused on satisfying regional and national needs; as well as models of global organizations.
- Has mastery over the procedures, criteria and standards of research methodology in the administrative area.
- Is aware of the importance of the research methodology and the social and environmental impact that it contributes.
Skills and Abilities (Doing)
- Supports and carries out relevant research in the area of administrative sciences, specifically in the field of business and government organizations. The investigations will be characterized by their orientation to the solution of real problems present in the environment.
- Generates knowledge, models and management practices that will make it possible to adapt and anticipate business, economic and social activities in the region, Mexico, Latin America and the rest of the world to new environments.
- Deepens and interprets the phenomena faced by organizations, to support decision-making in the current environment of globalization.
- Conceptualizes and abstracts social phenomena to pose problems based on the research lines of the doctoral program.
- Apply doctoral preparation towards the study and analysis of the structural problems of society in order to provide a proactive approach.
- Promotes the transfer of administrative technology, as well as the introduction of innovative ideas.
- Communicates the results of their research both in popular media and in scientifically rigorous media (refereed journals)
- Leads change processes within profit and non-profit organizations, based on solid research-based foundations.
- Share your experience, knowledge and skills with others through teaching.
- Evidence of skills in problem solving, creativity and innovation, global awareness, proactivity, flexibility, initiative and a broad vision of the world.
