The Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology (UMECIT), through the University Extension Coordination Office at its La Chorrera campus, officially launched the Golden Age project, an initiative aimed at promoting inclusion, empowerment, and the comprehensive well-being of older adults.
This program seeks to strengthen their human, emotional, family, and social capacities through a training program that will take place twice a week throughout the month of September, with the support of UMECIT teachers, students, alumni, and administrators, who share their knowledge with a strong social commitment.
Among the topics addressed are:
The Golden Age project articulates teaching, outreach, and research, contributing to the development of a supportive university community committed to social transformation. It also strengthens intergenerational and family integration, promoting respect, inclusion, and the active participation of older adults.
The program's implementation has been possible thanks to the support of partner institutions such as AMPYME, SENADIS, MIDES, ACODECO, the Ministry of Women, Club Activo 20-30, the Distinguished Fire Department of Panama West, CLRAH, and the Mayor's Office of La Chorrera, among many others who have demonstrated their commitment to human development in the region.
The opening ceremony was attended by prominent university officials and coordinators from the La Chorrera campus, who reaffirmed UMECIT's commitment to social engagement and improving the quality of life of the communities.
With the Golden Age, UMECIT strengthens its role as a borderless university, committed to university social responsibility and the comprehensive well-being of society.
