The Santiago Campus commemorates Lawyers' Day with the Academic Lecture Series: "Contemporary Legal Transformations"

With a space for reflection, analysis and academic dialogue, the Santiago Campus developed, on August 6 and 7, the Academic Conference Series under the motto: “Contemporary Legal Transformations: Challenges and Reflections on Lawyers' Day”, within the framework of the national celebration of this important date.

Over two days of hybrid training, students, faculty, legal professionals, and special guests met to address the challenges and changes facing legal practice in Panama.

The event featured the participation of prominent speakers:

  • Lic. Ana Cristina Sánchez Arrocha, Municipal Judge for Children of the District of Santiago, with the subject “Alimony”.

  • Lic. Rodalys Atencio Alvarado and Yasusi del C. Delgado Pérez, representing the Second Judicial District of Coclé–Veraguas.

  • Master Maura Yamileth Flores de Pimentel, First Circuit Judge, Civil Branch of the province of Veraguas.

  • Mr. Pablo Pimentel, Prosecutor of the province of Veraguas, sexual crimes section, with the conference “The new reforms to the Penal Code regarding sexual crimes”.

As part of UMECIT's commitment to research, they also participated Seidy Concepción and Norlando Reyes, students and members of the Civil Procedure Research Group, who presented progress on their studies: "Importance of environmental law in the face of pollution of the Los Chorros River"This presentation highlighted research as an essential tool for critical analysis and the search for innovative solutions to the country's social and legal realities.

The event was attended by the Veraguas Bar Association and renowned jurists from the province, who enriched the discussions with their contributions and experiences.

These were two opportune days for reflecting on the challenges facing the law today, driven by the valuable contributions of professionals committed to justice, academic training, and social transformation.
