On March 26, at the Fundadores headquarters, the Awareness Day on Neurodivergence was held, a training space aimed at strengthening the understanding of cognitive diversity within the university environment.
The activity brought together students, faculty, and administrative staff in a participatory exercise that fostered open dialogue, integration, and collaborative work. During the day, participants reflected on the different ways people learn, process information, and interact with their environment, recognizing neurodivergence as a natural expression of human diversity.
This type of initiative allows progress towards more inclusive institutional practices, progressively incorporating reasonable adjustments that promote more accessible, respectful and relevant educational environments for the entire university community.
The event included the participation of GANEXA University of the Arts, whose faculty and staff contributed a valuable inter-institutional perspective on current challenges in inclusion. It was also held in conjunction with the Ibrahim Suddy Guzmán Foundation, which emphasized the importance of raising awareness about the conditions associated with rare and invisible diseases, as well as the meaning of the symbol that represents them.
In this context, UMECIT recognizes the use of the sunflower as an international reference point for making these realities visible, promoting their understanding as part of a more conscious and inclusive institutional culture.
The main lesson of the day is that inclusion is not an abstract concept, but a process that is built from knowledge, practice and co-responsibility of all actors in university life.
