Students in their seventh semester of the Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health at UMECIT conducted a day of technical instruction at the facilities of the Panama Fire Department, specifically at the Ancon station.
During the day, participants engaged in emergency response simulations, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in controlled, high-fidelity scenarios. They also conducted a technical inspection of specialized equipment and the operational capabilities of the fire department, complemented by a valuable exchange of experiences with on-duty personnel regarding critical functions and risk management procedures.
This field practice contributes significantly to the development of technical and professional skills in future occupational safety and health specialists, while strengthening academic ties with first response organizations, a key element for the prevention and mitigation of incidents and compliance with industrial safety regulations in the Panamanian work environment.
The activity was carried out as an integral part of the Fires and Hazardous Materials course, under the supervision and academic guidance of Professor Carlos Nacache, with the aim of strengthening the practical training of students in real contexts of emergency care and response.
