UMECIT researcher participates in national technical workshop on Artificial Intelligence preparedness

Researcher Massiel Vergara, representing UMECIT – Chitré Headquarters, participated on March 4, 2026 in the Sectoral Technical Workshop corresponding to the Readiness Assessment Methodology in Artificial Intelligence (RAM).

The event was organized by the National Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation (SENACYT), through its Coordination of Plans and Programs, as part of the official national diagnostic process on artificial intelligence. The objective of this meeting was to gather specialized information and validate institutional capacities in key areas such as data governance, technological infrastructure, human resources, and regulatory frameworks.

These sessions are developed as technical, participatory and structured workspaces, where relevant institutional information is collected and gaps and opportunities for improvement are identified that will contribute to the national diagnosis on the development and readiness of the country in artificial intelligence.

For UMECIT – Chitré Campus, participation in this type of initiative strengthens institutional research capabilities and represents an opportunity to link academic and scientific processes with the needs of the environment.

Likewise, the participation of Professor Massiel Vergara provided a valuable academic perspective from the field of research and human talent development, contributing to the analysis of the development of artificial intelligence from the regional context.

With these types of spaces, the university reaffirms its commitment to research, innovation, and active participation in initiatives that contribute to the scientific and technological development of the country.
