Basic First Aid Seminar for Administrative Staff at UMECIT – La Chorrera Campus Begins
Our House of Studies - La Chorrera Headquarters - began the Basic First Aid Seminar, addressed to the administrative staff of the headquarters.
This important training day, carried out in collaboration with the Human Resources Department and the Administrative Vice-Rectory, is part of the institutional strategic actions aimed at strengthening internal response capacities in emergency situations.
The seminar was given by officials and volunteers of the National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC) – La Chorrera headquarters, under the main instruction of Mr. José Jaramillo, who along with his team offered comprehensive theoretical and practical training on essential first aid procedures.
Key topics covered during the day included:
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in adults
- Foreign body airway obstruction (FBO)
- Fracture management
- Care for poisoning and burns
- Application of tourniquets
- Using the Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Choking procedures for adults, children, and infants
- Wound treatment and bleeding control
- Approach to muscle injuries
- Care for sudden illnesses (seizures, fainting, etc.)
- First aid in adverse environmental contexts
This training enabled participants to acquire fundamental knowledge and practical skills that prepare them to act effectively and safely in critical situations.
The high level of participation and commitment of the administrative staff reflects the institutional interest in consolidating a culture of prevention, self-care and effective response, promoting the future creation of a Internal Risk Management Committee.
