We promote scientific dissemination on female unemployment in Veraguas

The Santiago branch of UMECIT, through its academic research spaces, developed a scientific dissemination day focused on one of the most relevant social problems in the local context: female unemployment in Santiago de Veraguas.

The presentation was given by research professor Zuley Tuñón, from the Bachelor's Degree in Law and Political Science, who presented the results of her study entitled "Typologies, rights, gender equality and regulations that affect female unemployment in Santiago - Veraguas.".

During the day, structural, regulatory and social aspects that influence the labor market integration of women were addressed, generating a space for analysis and reflection aimed at building proposals that promote gender equality and social development in the region.

The event included the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Women, as well as the regional director of AMPYME and the president of the Chamber of Commerce, who, from their respective fields, are key players in addressing this issue. Students from the Social Work and Human Development programs, and from the Law and Political Science program, also participated, along with members of the community at large.

These types of initiatives highlight the importance of scientific dissemination as a tool to strengthen decision-making, promote inter-institutional dialogue, and contribute to the formulation of evidence-based strategies to address priority social challenges.

The event reaffirms UMECIT's commitment to research as a transformative force, promoting spaces for encounter between academia, institutions and the community, in favor of a more equitable and inclusive society.
