Career Description

Facing the economic development and the demands of society, it is necessary to have human resources with skills to take advantage of opportunities and to anticipate future problems through innovative management. Such activities encourage the student to obtain a clear and complete vision of the world of advertising and marketing.

Thus, knowing the characteristics of the different advertising supports and media, the Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and Advertising will be able to position products in both national and international markets through understanding and handling modern techniques of strategic management. 

These techniques will allow the changes in the attitudes of consumers, their sensitivity to price and advertising, to be variables included in the decisions of the professional graduate of this career.

The Bachelor's Degree that Umecit presents, will give the student a clear and complete vision of the world of advertising and Marketing, knowing the characteristics of the different supports and advertising media, the importance of market research and the evolution of marketing.

The professional in Marketing and Advertising will be able to perform efficiently in the national or international environment in areas such as:
  • Marketing Manager.
  • Sales Manager.
  • Advertising Manager.
  • Coordination of the Marketing and/or Advertising areas of an organization.
  • Director of market research and analysis.
  • Design products and services as a Customer Service executive.
  • Negotiation Manager or Vice President (will play a key role in negotiating and contracting with advertising agencies and the media).
  • As an independent professional in: Market research, advertising campaign management; logistics, digital marketing, direct marketing, e-commerce, category management and sales.
Applicants to enter the Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and Advertising offered by the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology "UMECIT", must meet the following requirements:
  • Original and copy (collation) of high school diploma and credits approved by MEDUCA or its equivalent (in case of being a foreigner, the documents must be apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the respective country and have the endorsement of the Ministry of Education of Panama).
  • Two photocopies of the identity card. In case the applicant is a minor or a foreigner, two copies of the birth certificate or two copies of the passport, respectively, must be submitted.
  • Two passport-size photographs.
  • Medical certificate of good health.
  • Hold an interview with the selection team.
  • Fill out the application form to join the program.
    The permanence in the Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and Advertising will depend solely and exclusively on the student's motivation, capacity and vision to obtain the chosen academic degree.
    • No student will be able to continue in the course if he/she has a four-month cumulative index lower than 1.00.
    • Given the characteristics of the institution, the student will be able to:
      • Study in teams and on your own.
      • Research in their areas of major importance.
      • Complement the knowledge they need.
        Always be supported by the faculty.

To obtain the title of Marketing and Advertising Technician it is required:

    • Pass all the subjects of the curriculum of the technical career.
    • Maintain a cumulative academic index of not less than one (1.0) on a scale of one to three.
    • Be in good standing with the institution.
    • Comply with the degree requirement (seminar or diploma).

To obtain the Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and Advertising is required:

    • Pass all the subjects contemplated in the study plan.
    • Maintain a cumulative academic index of not less than one (1.5) on a scale of three.
    • Maintain an average higher than 71 and have no subjects lower than 71. On a scale of 0 to 100.
    • Satisfactorily complete the 180-hour supervised internship.
    • Elaborate and support the professional practice report.
    • Pass the English language knowledge test.
    • Be in good standing with the institution.
    • Complete and approve one of the following requirements:

    – Elaborate, support and approve a project ( degree project) in their area of knowledge.
    – Enroll and take the first four-month period of a specialization related to their career.
    – Submit and pass a general knowledge test.

  • Will analyze the characteristics of markets and consumers both in the country and abroad, starting from the management of databases and software generated for this purpose.
  • Identify the different modern distribution networks, in which he/she will stand out for his/her performance and management of Marketing Management and Relationship Marketing through the Internet.
  • Will identify and understand the fundamentals that argue direct marketing strategies.
  • You will identify and understand the fundamentals behind direct marketing strategies.
Do:
  • Project with leadership a creative image and make dynamic the positioning of companies in a globalized market, with competence and quality.
  • Develop proposals for product and price innovation according to the market.
  • Formulate marketing strategies for goods and services, based on the exchange between developed and developing countries.
  • Design advertising strategies that facilitate the development of ideas by creative professionals and the appropriate execution of the media plan by agencies.
  • Will develop plans for labor and business entrepreneurship attending to their individual needs and the context in which they find themselves.
