Academic Tour to the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the National Assembly of Panama

In order to strengthen the learning of the subject Public Finance and Fiscal PolicyAn enriching academic tour was carried out to the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) and the National Assembly of Panama, organized from the La Chorrera Headquarters.

During the tour of the MEF, the participants attended a conference in the meeting room of the National Budget Office (DIPRENA), where they were met by Ana Matilde Amado, Project Manager of the Superior Office, and Rubilú Rodríguez, Advisor to the Vice Minister of Economy. Key topics such as public debt, the formulation and control of the national budget, and public spending were discussed.

The visit to the National Assembly allowed them to see its facilities, including the Library and the legislative plenary session. The students were welcomed by representatives from Public Relations, Citizen Participation, and Culture, including the Honorable Alternate Representative Ariel Ortega De León and Mr. Luis "Cholo" Bernal, who shared a historical overview of the legislative body.

This academic experience is part of the university's substantive functions:

  • Extension: bringing students closer to national economic and legislative events.

  • Management: Reinforcing continuous learning improvement.

The activity not only strengthened the professional development of future Banking and Finance graduates, but also reaffirmed the importance of linking theory with practice in real-life state decision-making scenarios.
