Tourism Forum: Science, Astronomy, Robotics and Sustainable Development in Convergence with the Human Experience

The Extension Coordination of the La Chorrera headquarters of UMECIT organized with great success the Tourism Forum: Where Science, Astronomy, Robotics, and Sustainable Development Converge with the Human Experience, within the framework of the International Tourism Day, celebrated every September 27.

This academic, educational and extension space was led by students of the career of Bilingual Tourism (First, Second, and Third years), along with their teachers, who actively participated as part of their teaching guides. The initiative was conceived as a comprehensive training, research, and teamwork experience that highlighted the importance of tourism as a driver of sustainable development.

The event was attended by important institutions such as the Ministry of Environment, the National Police, IPACOOP, he Local Committee Dance Monkey from the community of Santa Marta (Arraiján), the Tourism Coordination of the Mayor's Office of La Chorrera and the Advisor to the Mayor, as well as academic and administrative authorities from UMECIT.

Among the featured speakers were: Master Ovidio Díaz (Panama Chamber of Tourism), the Mgtr. Mitzila Rivera (University of Panama), the Eng. Paul Madrid (Eduinnovo), the Lic. Sofía Bernal and the Master Francisco Castro (Copper Connects), the Master Carlos Sánchez (Innovatosphere) and the Panama's First Female Astrophysicist and Astronomer, who presented innovative perspectives on quantum tourism, astrotourism, and space tourism.

One of the most valuable aspects was the active participation of the students, who took on leading roles as masters of ceremony, responsible for logistics, decoration, food committee and cultural presentation, closing the day with the traditional Cumbia Chorrerana.
