As part of the celebration of Lawyers' Day, the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology (UMECIT) La Chorrera Campus held the student forum "Beyond Trial: Procedural Reflections," an academic activity that brought together students, faculty, and legal professionals in an enriching space for analysis and reflection.
The event was led by Professor Aracely Achille (Criminal Procedural Law) and supported by Professor Jorge Quelal (Administrative Procedural Law), who guided the students through fundamental topics in Criminal Procedural Law, linking theory with legal practice.
The event aimed to promote critical analysis and academic reflection on the application of procedural rules through direct dialogue with renowned professionals from the judicial system.
On this occasion, UMECIT had the honor of receiving two distinguished speakers:
Magister Manuel Sánchez, Guarantee Judge of the Third Judicial Circuit of Western Panama, who spoke about Law 63 of August 28, 2008, addressing its scope and challenges in judicial practice.
Master Patricia Natera, Deputy Prosecutor of Western Panama, presented the paper "The Role of the Public Prosecutor's Office in Criminal Investigations," highlighting the importance of investigative work in ensuring justice and respect for fundamental rights.
This forum not only strengthened the academic knowledge of the students of the Bachelor's Degree in Law and Political Science, but also gave them a closer look at the reality of legal practice in Panama.
With initiatives like this, UMECIT reaffirms its commitment to the comprehensive, ethical, and socially responsible training of its future legal professionals, fostering spaces that connect academia with practice and contribute to strengthening a more just and rights-conscious society.
