On August 14, the Academic Forum "Tensions between Economic Integration and Trade Restrictions" was held at the La Chorrera campus. It was organized by students of the Bachelor's Program in Law and Political Science under the guidance of Professor Edgar Ortega.
The event featured the participation of specialists Donald Sáez, Mariano Núñez Justiniani, and David Hidalgo, who provided a comprehensive overview of the challenges of regional integration, international trade, and Panama's role in contemporary scenarios.
This space for analysis allowed students to compare theory with practice, broadening their perspective on phenomena that directly impact the country and the region. The forum represented a closing stage for future graduates and, at the same time, an inspiring beginning for those continuing their training, who found in this gathering an opportunity for reflection, sharing, and critical thinking.
The event was attended by university authorities, guest lecturers, and the support of the Department of University Welfare, strengthening the activity and framing it within UMECIT's Curricular Educational Model, which is based on critical thinking, applied research, socially responsible leadership, and collaborative work.
With initiatives like this, UMECIT reaffirms its commitment to training professionals with a global vision and social commitment, capable of becoming agents of change in the face of the challenges of their time.
