Criminalistics students strengthen their skills in latent fingerprint development workshop

Criminalistics students from UMECIT, La Chorrera campus, participated in the workshop on developing latent fingerprints using the chemical reagent cyanoacrylate and the application of fluorescent powders, accompanied by the use of forensic lights, as part of their academic training in the subject Ocular Inspection II.

This valuable training experience allowed participants to apply fundamental scientific and technical knowledge to crime scene investigation. Under the guidance of Professor Abel Guevara, students developed practical skills in fingerprint detection, understanding the importance of forensic procedures for the proper identification, documentation, and preservation of evidence.

The workshop also highlighted the importance of integrating theory with practice, providing a space where students could directly experience the protocols used in modern criminalistics. The instructor's guidance was key to ensuring that each stage of the process was carried out in accordance with international standards of the forensic community.

As a result, participants not only strengthened their technical skills in latent fingerprint development, but also consolidated their understanding of the probative value of fingerprint evidence within the justice system, reaffirming their commitment to scientific rigor, truth, and legal certainty.
