Students of the subjects Banking and Finance participated in an enriching experience with the DiabetesLATAM Foundation – West Panama Chapter, an organization that provides guidance, accompaniment and support to children and young people living with type 1 diabetes, as well as their families, promoting healthy living and responsible disease management.
The day was coordinated together with the Extension Department of the La Chorrera Campus, complying with all the requirements established for the activity.
During the visit, the students learned about the three fundamental pillars on which the Foundation carries out its work:
In addition, they met the virtual programs offered by the Foundation, including the platform AdDT1 for parents, the application My DiApp for children and the course “Diabetes and Schools”, aimed at teachers.
Beyond the theoretical learning, the most significant experience was the direct interaction with the children. The students shared games like hopscotch, balancing, and jumping rope, and offered motivational phrases that generated moments of joy and connection. This experience allowed them to understand that emotional support is as important as medical treatment, and that Empathy is an essential tool in any profession.
