Joint strategies to strengthen academic cooperation between UMECIT and the Pontifical Javeriana University of Colombia

The Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology (UMECIT) received a visit from Dr. César Tulio Ossa, Director of Continuing Education, and Dr. Luz Karime Abadía, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administration at the Pontifical Javeriana University (Colombia), in Panama City. The purpose of the meeting was to explore new opportunities for academic and research collaboration.

During the meeting, strategic topics such as:

  • Double degrees to strengthen academic mobility.

  • Continuing education programs with regional impact.

  • Teaching and research at undergraduate and graduate levels.

  • Seminars, mirror classes and joint projects between faculties.

  • Internationalization activities aimed at expanding the global reach of both universities.

  • Academic exchanges and research stays that enhance the student and teaching experience.

UMECIT representatives included Dr. Mauricio Sierra, Academic Vice-Rector; Dr. Magdy de las Salas, Director of Research, Innovation, and Doctoral Programs; Dr. Marcela Arana, Academic Director; Dr. Rosa Castañeda, Legal and Academic Advisor; Master's Andrea Pinzón, Coordinator of Agreements and Internationalization; Mr. Ricaurte Rodríguez, Coordinator of Continuing Education; and Master's Oliver Grenald, Coordinator of Postgraduate Studies.

This meeting reaffirms the commitment of both institutions to promoting academic quality, research, and educational innovation, consolidating international alliances that generate a positive impact on students, teachers, and society.
