Our House of Studies carried out the field work of the research “Typologies, Rights, Gender Equality, and Regulations that Impact Female Unemployment in Santiago, Veraguas”, led by the teacher Zuley Tuñón, professor of the Bachelor of Law and Political Science at the Santiago Campus, along with two students of the same program.
The fieldwork took place over five days in the Santiago Centro district, aiming to gain a deeper understanding of the causes and manifestations of unemployment among women. To this end, qualitative surveys were conducted with 24 participants, organized into four key stakeholder groups: unemployed women, labor law experts, employers, and union representatives.
This study seeks to identify the typologies that characterize female unemployment in the region, as well as analyze the relevance of women's rights and the application of current regulations in the labor market. The results aim to generate valuable input for institutions such as the INAMU and the MITRADEL, in order to contribute to the design of public policies that promote gender equity and labor inclusion in Veraguas.
With this experience, UMECIT contributes to the applied research and with the comprehensive training of its students, who are actively involved in processes that contribute to social development and the empowerment of women in the community.
